C)(3) Personnel Doors. Where equipment rated 8A or more that contains overcurrent devices, switching devices, or control devices is installed and there is a personnel door(s) intended for entrance to and egress from the working space less than 7. An entire subsection, 110. E) requires that switchboards and panelboards be located in “dedicated spaces” and protected from damage.

Working space for equipment operating at 6volts, nominal, or less, to ground and likely to require examination, adjustment, servicing, or maintenance while energized shall comply with the dimensions of 110. A)(1), (A)(2), and (A)(3) or as required or permitted elsewhere in this Code. Depth of Working Space.

Mike Holt Enterprises, Inc. In all cases, the working space must be of sufficient width, depth, and height to permit all equipment doors to open degrees. What are the NEC requirements for dealing with fl ash protection? This is to allow for ready and safe operation and maintenance of the equipment.

A) (3) to include all of the height requirements found in 110. Two entrances and egress paths from the work space are required if the sum of the two-to-six service disconnects is (to meet the requirements in 231) 2amperes or more. To comply with the U. Access and working space shall be provided and maintained about all electrical equipment to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment. It appears that language change was accepted to move the 2Amp number in this section 110.

This seems to be noncompliant by 110. The NEC is clear in 410. Working space must exist around all electrical equipment to allow unobstructed equipment access, safe operation, and maintenance. A few key NEC articles that address this issue are: Article 110.

A) (3) describes the height of the working space and allows for electrical equipment to intrude into the working space for a maximum depth of 6”. This can often be seen in equipment rooms that have a wireway protruding outward above or below a panelboard. A) Adds an informational note to reference NFPA 70E, Adds a third exception to 110.

A)(3) to correlate with battery systems in 480. There is a exception to this code that is stated on 110. C) (2) (a), that sates the following.

General license for the export of nuclear reactor components. A general license is issued to any person to export to a destination listed in paragraph (b) of this section any nuclear reactor component of U. A) (1) condition states that exposed live parts on both sides of the working space require minimum clear distance of 4ft. NEC does not explain the dead front panel working space requirements between panels. Under all circumstances, there are no live parts exposed to persons entering the electrical room. Their arguement is that the areas must have manual overide controls since they are served by bus duct, there are local panelbouards, and the manufacturing machines have control panels which periodically require maintenance.
