Don’t confuse cellular vinyl trim with polyurethane-core, vinyl -coated products. Plastic can be styled the same way that vinyl can to emulate wood and give you the same look and feel. Plastic is easy to mass produce so its cost as a trim material is less than vinyl and wood. For fastening use stainless steel trim nails so the nails will last as long as the trim. Nail within two inches from the edge of the boards and at least every inches along the length. You can also use a screw and plug system. I would recommend a good quality stain sealer like Kilz premium (my personal fave and hasn’t failed me yet) and a trim paint with good hiding coverage. Place the sheet of plastic against the bottom of the baseboard.

Tape the plastic down with regular masking tape, right where the baseboard meets the floor. With you crowbar wedged in, pull up to separate the board from the wall and work along down the length of the baseboard until it is removed.
