Most padding compounds are used in industrial manufacturing settings where production is automated. Even when done individually, though, the process is usually about the same. Once you have all your little sheets of paper ready to go, it’s time to make your homemade padding compound to hold everything together.

Pre-cut the carpet padding and lay it loosely in place. Pull the padding back around the walls and seams to expose the substrate. Use a scrap piece of padding to smooth out the adhesive to a thin and even coat. Now you are to hot glue the pieces together. You do this by first making sure the tops of all the paper and the cardboard are all alligned.
