Trims and moldings are small additions that have big impact on the overall look of your floor and how well it functions. They create continuity by hiding edges, gaps and joints with coordinated or matching styles. They allow smooth transitions between hardwood and other types of flooring. Wood floor moldings are used to cover the expansion area, create height differences, hide cut ends and to accent the floor. An end molding may also be a better choice when your flooring butts an edge such as a sliding glass door, where a quarter round molding may be too small.

With a lower profile than a reducer strip laminate molding , an end molding can add a subtle, tailored look to your interior. Threshold - This molding is used at exterior doorways as a transition between flooring and the doorway threshold. Versatrim provides flooring manufacturers, retailers, distributors, installers, and yes, even the end. Baseboard molding is installed at the base of the wall just above the floor’s top surface.

Quarter-round molding is installed over the bottom of the baseboard molding and covers the expansion gap. Every new or remodeled floor, be it tile carpete or wood needs to have transition and moulding pieces to complete the function of your floor. In cases of floating systems, like laminate or wood click-lock, the right moulding is REQUIRED to be installed to ensure the new floor works properly.

That way the expansion gap is hidden by the base molding and there’s no need for ugly quarter round.
