What is Brazilian ash? The wood is fairly chatoyant, and appears to shift from dark to light coloring in different lighting angles. When left to weather to a natural silvery-gray patina, its grain patterns are virtually indistinguishable from Ipe. Because of the nature of the wood , some boards have appealing streaks of brown in them. After exposing the boards to the sun, the yellow color becomes a beautiful russet golden brown.
It saws, nails and screws well with little to no blunting effect on tools. This wood glues easily and once glued is very stabile. The shade of this hardwood is lighter compared to Massaranduba and Ipe, and it has the beautiful tone of the Brazilian hardwood.
